Sandland Child Participation Waiver & Parental Consent Form

1. Parent / Guardian Declaration

I confirm that I am the parent or legal guardian of the child(ren) named below and that I have the authority to provide consent on their behalf.

 

I understand that Sandland staff do not provide childcare or supervision and that I am responsible for supervising my child(ren) at all times while using the play area.

2. Description of Activity

I understand that the Sandland play area consists of a large sandpit designed for children’s play.

I acknowledge that sand play involves normal and foreseeable risks, including but not limited to:

 

  • Slipping or falling

  • Sand in eye's, ears, nose, or mouth

  • Minor cuts, scrapes, or bruises

3. Sand Ingestion

I understand that sand is not intended to be eaten.

 

I accept full responsibility if my child intentionally or unintentionally ingests sand, and I acknowledge that Sandland is not responsible for illness or discomfort resulting from sand ingestion, except where required by law.

4. Behaviour & Safety Rules

I understand and agree that the following behaviours are strictly prohibited:

  • Throwing sand

  • Placing sand into another child’s face, mouth, or eyes

  • Aggressive, reckless, or unsafe behaviour

I acknowledge that:

 

  • Sandland staff may ask me to remove my child from the play area if unsafe behaviour occurs

  • Repeated or serious breaches may result in the family being asked to leave the premises

  • No refunds will be given where removal is due to behaviour or safety concerns

5. Parental Responsibility

I accept full responsibility for:

  • My child’s actions and behaviour

  • Any injury caused by my child to themselves or others

  • Any damage caused by my child

 

I agree to intervene promptly if my child behaves in a way that may endanger themselves or others.

6. Health & Medical Declaration

I confirm that my child is fit to participate in sand play.

I have declared to a member of staff any relevant:

  • Medical conditions

  • Allergies

  • Additional needs

 

I understand that children with vomiting, diarrhoea, contagious illness, or open wounds should not use the sandpit.

7. Clothing, Footwear & Hygiene

I understand and agree that:

  • Footwear must not be worn directly in the sand pit.

  • Children may either wear their own socks or keep their shoes on by wearing Sandland-approved shoe coverings while in the sand pit area.

  • Outdoor shoes without approved coverings, bare feet, or unauthorised footwear are not permitted in the sand pit for hygiene and safety reasons.

  • Shoe coverings must be put on, or shoes removed on the foam tiles before entering the sand pit.

  • Clothing, socks, footwear, and personal items may become dirty or damaged during sand play.

  • Sandland is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings.

I acknowledge that failure to follow the footwear and hygiene rules may result in:

 

  • Being instructed by Sandland staff to leave the sand pit area or premises; and

  • In serious or repeated cases, being refused future entry, with no refund given.

8. Age Suitability

 

I confirm that the play area is suitable for my child’s age and ability, and I accept responsibility for determining whether participation is appropriate.

9. Incident Reporting

 

I understand that any accident or injury, however minor, must be reported to a member of staff immediately.

10. Data Protection

I understand that personal information provided in this waiver is:

 

  • Stored securely

  • Used only for safety, legal, and operational purposes

  • Retained only for as long as necessary in accordance with data protection laws

11. Peak Times, Wristbands & Time Limits

I understand and agree that during busy or peak periods, Sandland operates a time-slot system to ensure fair access for all visitors.

  • Coloured wristbands may be issued to indicate the allocated length of stay, selected in 30-minute time slots

  • Wristband colour corresponds to the end time of the visit

  • It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to monitor their allocated time

  • When the allocated time has ended, families must leave the play area and vacate any tables or seating promptly

 

I acknowledge that failure to comply with the time-slot system may result in being asked to leave the premises, and that no refunds will be given where time limits are exceeded.

12. Allergens & Materials Disclaimer

I understand and acknowledge that cinnamon is added to the sand at Sandland and that cinnamon may be an allergen or irritant for some individuals. While Sandland takes reasonable steps to maintain a clean and safe environment, it cannot guarantee that the sand or play area will be suitable for all sensitivities or allergies.

 

I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to consider any known allergies or sensitivities before participation and to inform Sandland staff where relevant. Participation is undertaken at my own risk, and Sandland accepts no responsibility for allergic reactions or related issues arising from exposure to cinnamon or other materials used within the play area.

13. Acceptance

 

By signing below, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this waiver on behalf of my child(ren).
