Student Insurance Welcome to the Houghton College 2009-2010 Student Insurance Site Reference the WAIVER ONLINE SYSTEM section below to waive from the Student Medical Insurance Plan. Waiver Online System All full time undergraduate students at Houghton College are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan. If you have adequate coverage that will provide benefits in the Houghton, New York area, you may waive the Student Health Insurance Plan and not incur a charge on your student account. I warrant that the information I have provided in this waiver is true and accurate. I authorize Niagara National, Inc. on behalf of Houghton College, to validate my waiver. This includes, but is not limited to, contacting my existing insurance carrier in an effort to determine that valid, in-force coverage exists. If it is later determined that I have provided inaccurate information, my waiver may be voided and charges for the student insurance plan may be added to my student account billing statement. You may waive the Student Health Insurance Plan by clicking on the "Continue" button below and completing the online waiver process. This will be the fastest way to waive out of the plan. If you need assistance while navigating this system, please contact the Niagara National Customer Service Department at 1-800-444-5530. If you are not adequately insured while you are at school, you will not be allowed to waive. Please take a few minutes to review your current policy and make sure you are adequately covered. If you are not sure, please contact your current insurance carrier. Many HMOs provide limited coverage for students traveling away from their service area and most employer plans will not cover dependents beyond a certain age (for instance turning 19 or 21). It can take years to recover from unpaid medical bills. This plan will pay a student's medical expenses if they are sick or injured as long as it is medically necessary.
